These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website, petitions, donation tools, communications, and services (collectively, the “Platform”) operated by Animal Victory Disaster and Abuse Fund (“AVDAF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
By accessing or using the Platform, including signing petitions, making donations, or submitting information, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional policies referenced herein. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
Animal Victory Disaster and Abuse Fund is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting animals affected by abuse, neglect, cruelty, and natural disasters through emergency aid, relief efforts, advocacy, and public awareness.
AVDAF is not a government agency and does not provide legal, medical, or professional services.
The Platform exists to raise awareness of animal abuse and disaster-related emergencies, mobilize public support through petitions and advocacy campaigns, accept charitable donations to fund animal rescue, medical care, shelter, disaster response, and related charitable activities, and communicate with supporters about mission-related efforts.
Use of the Platform does not create any legal relationship, fiduciary duty, partnership, or obligation of representation between you and AVDAF.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
All donations made to AVDAF are voluntary. Donations are non-refundable, except where required by law or approved at AVDAF’s sole discretion. Donations support AVDAF’s charitable mission and may be allocated to the area of greatest need within that mission. Donor designations are honored only if expressly accepted in writing by AVDAF. AVDAF retains exclusive discretion over the use, allocation, timing, and distribution of donated funds.
Tax Status: AVDAF is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors are responsible for retaining receipts and consulting their own tax advisors.
By signing or participating in a petition, you acknowledge that petitions are advocacy tools only, AVDAF cannot guarantee any legal, governmental, or policy outcome, signing a petition does not create any legal obligation on third parties, and AVDAF does not control decisions made by courts, prosecutors, agencies, or elected officials.
You agree not to submit false, misleading, defamatory, or unlawful content; harass, threaten, or abuse others; impersonate any individual or organization; interfere with the operation or security of the Platform; or use the Platform for illegal or unauthorized purposes.
AVDAF reserves the right to remove content or restrict access at its sole discretion.
All content, branding, media, and infrastructure on this Platform, including but not limited to text, petitions, graphics, logos, images, videos, audio recordings, podcasts, and designs, are the exclusive property of Animal Victory Disaster and Abuse Fund (AVDAF) or licensed to AVDAF, and are protected by applicable United States and international copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
AVDAF is the sole creator, funder, and exclusive owner of the following four core projects, including all associated branding, assets, domains, social media pages, and media files:
1. Emergency Disaster Relief
2. The Animal Court Podcast Project (including the tagline “The Neighbor Next Door: The Hidden Abuse™”)
3. Begging For Help Project
4. Home Street Home Project
No individual, contractor, volunteer, or third party holds any equity, ownership, or vested interest in these projects or their associated assets. All work performed by third parties or independent contractors on behalf of these projects is done as a work made for hire under U.S. copyright law, or under an exclusive implied license to AVDAF, and AVDAF retains all rights, title, and interest in perpetuity.
Affiliate and Partner Projects
AVDAF also participates as a proud affiliate and promotional partner in the following project, which is owned and operated by a separate organization.
Animal Abuse Registry Project: This initiative was created by and remains the intellectual property of North Shore Animal League America. AVDAF serves as an affiliate partner, working to promote and support this registry in furtherance of our shared mission to protect animals from repeat abusers. AVDAF makes no claim of ownership over the Animal Abuse Registry Project, its branding, or its associated assets. All rights to the Animal Abuse Registry Project are retained exclusively by North Shore Animal League America.
Strict Prohibition on Reproduction and Use
No content from the Platform or from any of the four AVDAF-owned projects listed above may be copied, reproduced, modified, distributed, republished, downloaded, displayed, posted, or transmitted in any form or by any means without the prior, express written permission of an authorized officer of Animal Victory Disaster and Abuse Fund. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or use of any content, branding, or media from AVDAF or its projects is strictly prohibited and will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” AVDAF MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: accuracy or completeness of information, availability or uninterrupted access, petition effectiveness or outcomes, or results of advocacy efforts.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AVDAF, INCLUDING ITS BOARD MEMBERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, AND VOLUNTEERS, SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO: use of or inability to use the Platform, petition participation or advocacy outcomes, donation decisions or allocation of funds, errors, omissions, or third-party content, or data breaches or unauthorized access beyond reasonable safeguards.
YOUR SOLE REMEDY IS TO DISCONTINUE USE OF THE PLATFORM.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless AVDAF and its Board of Directors, Officers, employees, volunteers, contractors, and agents from any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: your use or misuse of the Platform, content you submit, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.
The Platform may link to or integrate with third-party tools such as payment processors, media platforms, and advocacy tools. AVDAF is not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
AVDAF may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.

This Privacy Policy explains how Animal Victory Disaster and Abuse Fund (“AVDAF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information.
We may collect name, email address, mailing address, donation and transaction information, petition signatures and comments, communication preferences, and technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device data.
We use information to process donations and issue receipts, administer petitions and advocacy campaigns, communicate mission-related updates, maintain records required by law, and improve platform functionality.
AVDAF may use shared technology platforms, databases, or communication tools in coordination with its affiliated for-profit organization, Animal Victory, for administrative efficiency. Supporters who interact with both organizations may appear in shared systems. Each organization remains responsible for compliance with applicable laws.
AVDAF does not sell, rent, or trade donor or supporter information as a commercial asset. In the event of corporate changes involving affiliated entities, any continued use of shared systems will remain subject to this Privacy Policy, donor preferences, and opt-out rights.
We may share information with service providers such as payment processors and email platforms, when required by law or legal process, and to protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud. We do not sell personal information.
Emails are sent for mission-related purposes. Every email includes an unsubscribe option and requests are honored promptly. We comply with CAN-SPAM, GDPR (where applicable), and CASL.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Information is retained only as long as necessary for operational, legal, or regulatory purposes.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access or correct personal information, request deletion, and opt out of communications. Requests may be submitted to info@animalvictoryfund.org.
We may update these Terms of Use and/or our Privacy Policy at any time. Updates will be posted with a revised effective date.

At Animal Victory, our mission is to bring justice, compassion, and tangible help to animals suffering from abuse, neglect, and disasters. We mobilize hundreds of thousands of people online to demand accountability in animal cruelty cases. As technology evolves, we recognize that Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers new tools for advocacy, but it also presents risks related to authenticity, transparency, and trust.
This AI Image Policy outlines our commitments and guidelines regarding the use of AI-generated images across our petition platform, communications, and advocacy efforts.
Our approach to AI-generated images is guided by the following principles.
Authenticity First: The core of our work involves documenting real cases of animal abuse and neglect. We believe that real animals and their true stories must remain at the forefront of the animal rights movement.
Transparency: We are committed to being open with our supporters and the public about when and how AI is used in our visual content.
Integrity: We will not use AI to mislead, manipulate, or misrepresent facts, evidence, or the reality of animal suffering.
When real photographs of an abused animal are unavailable, too graphic to publish, or not yet released by authorities, Animal Victory may use an AI-generated image to visually represent the animal or situation described in a petition. This practice is carried out with full transparency and under the following strict requirements.
The AI image is never presented as a real photograph of the animal in the case. We make this explicitly clear to every viewer.
A clear caption is placed directly beneath every AI-generated image in a petition, stating, for example: “AI-generated image used to represent [animal name / the animal in this case], not an actual photograph.”
The entry warning displayed on every petition page also discloses that AI-generated illustrations may be used for representational purposes.
AI-generated images will never be used as legal evidence or submitted to courts, prosecutors, judges, or law enforcement as documentation of abuse. All evidence submitted through our formal petition process consists solely of authentic, verified materials.
Beyond petition-related representational use, Animal Victory may also utilize AI-generated images for general advocacy, educational, and promotional purposes, provided they adhere to the following guidelines.
Stylized and Artistic Content: AI may be used to create stylized, non-photorealistic artwork such as illustrations, graphics, or cartoons for social media campaigns, educational materials, or promotional graphics.
Positive Representation: AI may be used to generate positive, uplifting images of animals such as dogs and cats in safe, happy environments to accompany general advocacy messaging or fundraising appeals for the Animal Victory Disaster and Abuse Fund.
Color and Diversity: When generating images of animals, we ensure a diverse color palette and avoid unnatural uniform representations.
Prioritization: Visual content will prioritize dogs and cats, reflecting the primary focus of our community and advocacy efforts, followed by other animals as relevant.
Transparency is essential when AI is utilized. Any AI-generated image published by Animal Victory must be clearly disclosed to the viewer.
Clear Labeling: AI-generated images must be accompanied by a clear and conspicuous disclosure. This may take the form of a watermark on the image itself or a caption immediately adjacent to the image, such as “Image generated by AI for illustrative purposes” or “AI-generated artwork.”
No Metadata Alteration: Animal Victory will not intentionally remove, alter, or disable any provenance or metadata tags that identify an image as AI-generated.
We acknowledge current legal standards regarding AI-generated content. Purely AI-generated images without meaningful human creative control are generally considered to be in the public domain and cannot be copyrighted. Animal Victory will not claim exclusive copyright ownership over purely AI-generated images, nor will we use AI to intentionally infringe upon the copyrighted works of human artists or photographers.
This policy applies to all Animal Victory Disaster and Abuse Fund staff, contractors, and volunteers. All AI-generated visual content must be reviewed and approved by the editorial team prior to publication to ensure compliance with this policy. This policy will be reviewed annually to adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape of AI technology and legal frameworks.
